Wow! This month's card swap challenge was to make a black and white (or black and cream) card accented by just one color. The results were stunning! A couple of things stood out to me:
- These were some really classy cards - great job ladies!
- The cards were really varied, with lots of different accent colors used. They really demonstrate just how universal a black and white color scheme is!
Of course, we are excited to share! The following is the 'sketch' the cards were based on, then photos of the cards themselves - enjoy!

Jodi's Card (Back)
Jodi chose an unconventional postcard format for this adorable card. She created her card with papers from the Ebony and Ivory Collection, by Kaiser, then embellished with a piece of green lace, a couple of cute button brads, and some rain dot petals for the center flower (all available at ScrapBugLane.com). The 'postcard' itself was created with Coredinations Color Core Cardstock - notice the fun tattered edge. Great card Jodi!
Jessica's Card
This elegant card features papers and trims from Stampin' Up. The textured cardstock on the left edge is Bazzill Basics. The stamp reads 'Journey: An experience or process that leaves you changed; trail of experience. From here to there'. The pink accent color makes this card a fun and feminine!
Patti's Card
This cute card features our favorite black and red beetle, the lady bug! Patti used a combination of polka dot and checked papers, accented with a white paper ric-rac border to create a card that speaks summer! The simple sentiment 'Bloom' makes it perfect for any occasion. Nice job Patti!
Selestina's Card
This classy card was created with papers from the Crate Avenue Collection, as well as an artfully torn piece of Black Magic cardstock (both available at ScrapBugLane.com). A simple ribbon accent, as well as a die cut flower with gemstone center (using Black Magic cardstock again) finish the card to a tee!
Andrea's Card
This timeless card features a punch of yellow. Andrea used plain colored cardstocks accented with yellow stamped daisies and black brads. The center sentiment is stamped on a piece of vellum, creating a soft classic look. She carries the yellow flower motif to the inside of the card (not shown). Really pretty Andrea!
My Card
The idea behind my card was to create a simple monotone effect. The card itself is black for added drama. The die cut, half black, half white flower silouette is accented with a single clear button.
Hope you enjoyed this months cards. We look forward to seeing what everyone creates next month where the challenge is to include an 'office supply' in the cards!
